Anson Leading RAPS Communications Sessions

Continual changes within regulatory agencies require regulatory professionals to strengthen their communications skills with those agencies. At the upcoming annual Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) meeting in Boston (September 14-17, 2008), Pharmaceutical Services Director O. Reed Tarwater, Ph.D., RAC, will moderate and present two professional development sessions focused on maintaining flexible communications.

The two RAPS sessions offer an overview of communication techniques and practices within the U.S., Canada, European, Non-ICH Regions and Japan. Based on his over 30 years developing new pharmaceuticals, Dr. Tarwater will cover general communications principles for U.S. practices.

In addition to leading these sessions, Dr. Tarwater is co-presenting a Monday session with Anson Senior Consultant John Worzalla, M.S., RAC . The name of this session is Masters of Our Domain: Furthering the Regulatory Education of Busy Regulatory Professionals and the Development of a Top-Notch Regulatory Staff .

In the past, few formal educational opportunities were available for regulatory professionals. Now, even with an increasing availability of classes, regulatory professionals struggle to find time for continuing educational opportunities. The RAPS Masters of Our Domain course will outline advantages of higher education and will explore university programs as well as the RAPS Regulatory Affairs Certification program to assist regulatory professionals in understanding the options available.

In support of future programs, RAPS has enlisted Dr. Tarwater’s contribution in planning the content of the 2009 RAPS West Coast program.

Reed Tarwater is the Director of Anson’s Pharmaceutical Services group, and John Worzalla is Anson's Senior Pharmaceutical Consultant. Both scientists have over 30 years of drug development experience, are accredited by RAPS, and have taught courses for Purdue University 's Regulatory Affairs/Quality Compliance Master’s Degree program.
